ABSTRACT
This chapter presents an account of the technology of airborne and spaceborne laser profilers and scanners as of 2016. First, it covers both airborne and spaceborne laser profilers. In much greater detail and at greater length, the coverage of airborne laser scanners is subdivided into three main parts: (1) those used for topographic mapping from manned aircraft, (2) those utilized on unmanned aircraft, and (3) those employed in bathymetric mapping and charting operations.
