ABSTRACT

As procedural generation becomes more and more important to people, game designers look for new ways to make it a part of the things they create. System of rules and building blocks like Game design 101 is sort of a miniature slice of game designing, which the generator is exploring by generating rules. Lots of people have experimented with rule generation in the past, from inventing new chess games to making completely automated game designers, but it is still a very new field without many accepted ideas. The little system we designed, with a series of building blocks for rules, guidelines to filter out bad ideas, and a random player to test the game for people. But the exciting thing is that no one really knows what the best ideas are for creating rules, mechanics, and systems using procedural generation.
