ABSTRACT
My father had a passion for education as a result of two things: one, at that time he was working for the colonial administration, as I have said. He wanted to impress upon them that he liked school and they were impressed because he had actually gone to school. If I showed you where he lived and where he attended school, you would be amazed at the distance. He went to school for only three years because it was too far, it was about 40 km one way. You see, because it was near impossible for anyone to travel those distances by foot. Yes, so he only finished about three classes.
