ABSTRACT

Improper excavation, cover occupation and occupation of land caused by mining development change the thermal properties of city’s underlying surface, which contributes to the Urban Heat Islands (UHI). This paper, firstly, estimates the spatial dynamics of Land Surface Temperature (LST) by single-channel algorithm based on the Landsat TM Thermal Infrared (TIR) bands in 1998, 2004, 2010, 2016 of Wu’an, and makes visual interpretation of mining boundary and partitions surface disturbance types of mining; secondly, analyzes the impact of mining on the urban heat island effect, the characteristics of temperature spatial distribution of different surface disturbance types and its contribution to the UHI effect from time and space perspective with spatial analysis method. The conclusions are that the average LST of Wu’an is on the rise with the mining scale expanding and the UHI effect is obvious and the LST of different surface disturbance types are obviously different.
