ABSTRACT

Soil Particle Size Distribution (PSD) and soil thermal property were observed under different machineries and compaction times, in order to find a change law of soil PSD and soil thermal property during a process of reclamation. Researches has shown that, 1) During compacting, a small range increase of pressure refined the soil particle size, but a greater pressure fluctuated it. 2) When simulating compaction of a crawler dozer, fractal dimensions increased and then decreased with the increasing of compaction time, while simulating compaction of a dump truck, the fractal dimensions fluctuated with the increasing of compaction time. 3) Both compaction machine and compaction time affected soil thermal conductivity, the compaction of machineries could affect soil thermal property through affecting PSD. Results indicated that compared with the dump truck, the soil PSD was more manageable when using the crawler dozer to compact, and the best compaction time was 3 times.
