ABSTRACT
There has been much debate in recent years around the concept of globalisation, although a precise definition of this term remains elusive (Robertson, 1992). However, it is widely accepted that the world is becoming increasingly interconnected in terms of its economic, political and cultural life. This process is not only affecting the rich countries of Europe and North America, but is also penetrating into previously remote or relatively closed societies such as China and India.
