ABSTRACT
The International Association of Music Libraries (IAML) was founded over a period of two years at meetings at Basel and Florence, Luneburg and Paris, the last named being under the auspices of United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The United Nations has as its main aim the establishment of peace between nations. One way of helping this ideal to be achieved was in the creation of international organizations such as IAML. The IAML (UK) and the Library Association have always had members in common and the Branch now became an 'Organisation in Liaison' with the LA. The publications programme continued with two titles in 1988 and 1989: The Availability of Printed Music: A Report published with the aid of a grant from the Arts Council of Great Britain, and Sets of Vocal Music: A Librarian's Guide to Interlending Practice, edited by Malcolm Lewis.
