ABSTRACT

Common warts (CWs) (also known as verrucae vulgaris) are benign skin proliferation of keratinocytes caused by human papilloma virus (HPV) infection. They are very common, particularly in children, where the prevalence may be up to 30%, and in immunosuppressed subjects.1 CWs are most frequently caused by HPV types 1, 2, and 4.1 , 2 Transmission may result from direct, skin-to-skin contact, but indirect contamination through surfaces and objects may also occur.3 Lesions often resolve without any treatment.3
