ABSTRACT

It is important to form your own professional identity and teaching is very worthwhile if you are able to align your personal and professional identities. Clearly, as a teacher you never stop learning; you continue to develop your own craft, reacting and adapting to classroom events. It is important to work collaboratively with colleagues as this forms a supportive network. It is imperative that teachers understand, acknowledge and expect that they will encounter professional tensions, and that this is normal. Teachers must be willing to question, reflect and adapt.
