The theoretical background relies on diversity and inclusion management, which is explored from the conceptual and experiential perspectives. The key concepts are equity, diversity and inclusion, multiculturalism and ethical issues underlying the encountering. Encountering here refers to a situation-related process where ‘me’ and ‘the other’ meet in an interactive context (see Bruner, 1986; Kakkori & Huttunen, 2007).
