ABSTRACT

Studies of foundation pile caps, used in bridge foundations, have differences, especially regarding the distribution of stresses, not demonstrating a representative model for structural analysis. We present in this paper the numerical study, based on the Finite Element Method, the stress distribution in reinforced concrete on four stakes, subjected to centered vertical load. For analysis considered not to linearity of the material and the outcomes of interest were the tensions flows in its main directions. In the following models is varied the dimensions of the block, the dimensions of the pillar and the load applied in order to check formation of differences in the voltages and field trajectories. It has been observed that the distribution of compressive stresses is the main form of a thick dome with four supports, on poles, being tensioned regions outside the dome. Checking the influence of the load variation of the block geometry and pillar, and distribution of principal stress was possible. The results obtained from the modeling blocks on four stakes made to demonstrate that the behavior is not exactly as usually considered.
