ABSTRACT

Bridges take a very important part in civil engineering, due to their usage in the transposition of obstacles. With the evolution of techniques in civil engineering, bridges began to be projected from calculations that are based on different methods. Besides the improvement in these calculations, the use of software in civil engineering projects has increased in recent years. This is achieved thanks to the optimization in services guaranteed by the use of applications, preventing possible design errors and speeding up the process.

From the elasticity method, it has been developed calculation processes as the influence surface. This illustrates the variation of the efforts in a structure from the positioning of a unit vertical load at different locations. The detailed study of these surfaces generated the abacuses of Homberg, which allows the calculation of the moments on the bridge slabs.

Based on the abacuses and setting the boundary conditions of the slabs for the vehicle of the German DIN-1072, it was created the Rüsch tables. These were a big improvement over the abacuses of Homberg, by ensuring greater accuracy and facilitating the gathering of moments, it became an essential tool for determining the moments on slabs.

Given the absence of an application using this simple method, the work is focused on its development in order to assist engineers and students in optimizing designs and preventing errors. The software in question is called TRüsch, which was developed in Java with a simple interface and has an easy understand system. From the data entered by the user and the NBR 7188 vehicles TB-450 or TB-240, a table, the moments due to the live and dead loads and their respective diagrams are displayed. The Layout of the software is shown in figure 1. The TRüsch application for the calculation of isolated slabs allows for the obtaining of satisfactory results with much more agility and convenience.
