ABSTRACT

In recent years, with the rapid development of China’s bridge construction, non-destructive testing of bridge has become the important problem of bridge research in our country. Damage cumulation in bridges can affect not only on the normal service of bridges, but also safety of structures. This paper systematically expounds the development of bridge non-destructive testing technology in China and makes a comparison between several kinds of new non-destructive testing technologies. At present, the theory of damage safety assessment remains to be developed, so it is important to assess the damage safety level of bridge structure correctly.

The article studies the damage mechanism of bridge structure. It also introduces some forms of structural damage, such as overload damage, fatigue damage and corrosion damage. The whole bridge detection can timely monitor the working state of bridge, seek out the local damage, so local non-destructive testing does the next job. On the basis of local non-destructive testing and bridge health monitoring technology, we can use the detailed damage safety assessment to get the correct damage safety level of bridge structure. In addition, the paper introduces how to apply modern information technology to non-destructive testing evaluation system. Through a central database and the open network platform, bridge experts are invited to give the consultation for the safety of the bridge. Furthermore, the integrated artificial intelligence expert system can realize non-destructive testing detection and safety evaluation of bridge by itself.

Non-destructive testing technology of bridge has a great deal of achievements in China, but the practical application of new non-destructive testing technologies has to be promoted, and the existing damage safety assessment theory needs to be further improved. With the application of modern sensor technology and information technology in non-destructive testing, how to combine non-destructive testing and detection of health and the intelligent evaluation system, will be the important aspect of the development of non-destructive testing in the future.
