ABSTRACT

Bridge assessment of existing bridges is a paramount argument for retrofitting decisions of managing authorities, especially in the common situation of the management of large scale infrastructures with ancient bridges in service. However, practical instruments to be used in the common practice, are very far placed from the common scientific sophisticated and unpractical procedures. In this paper, a comprehensive overview considering fatigue in prestressed concrete bridges, including analysis, assessment and retrofit is presented in order to gain protection, repair, and rehabilitation of deteriorated structures.
