ABSTRACT

Andrew Hunt brings insight into modern-day record production through his experiences of being at the heart of the London production community as a long-standing board member of the Music Producer’s Guild. He deservedly also won the MPG Breakthrough Producer of the Year 2017 with his work with Jonathon Holder & The Good Thinking. The process of music production has changed considerably as the professionals have risen through the ranks of their industry. In the pursuit of exploring mid-career producers as they develop, all three interviewees are of a similar age and have begun their careers in UK studio complexes. They, like many of their peers, have diversified in their roles and have specialized as their careers have developed, either out of choice or from necessity. The interviewees did comment on and infer the considerable change in the industry and the way in which they and their peers are paid and try, to consider the impact on the future.
