ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the issues in the Korean professional baseball league’s design and growth. The Koran Baseball Organization (KBO) is the third largest baseball league measured by attendance and revenue following Major League Baseball and Nippon Professional Baseball. During discussions with Korean sports management and sports economics experts, the author discovered that team owners and policy makers are discussing changes to the business model governing the Korean Professional Baseball League (KPBL). Fort discusses possible functional options for the league and important factors to be considered for each option.
