Organizations and their employees are changing and developing rapidly, and we must improve our human capital strategies quickly in order to improve performance and engage employees. Reward is a key component in this relationship and needs to improve dramatically to ensure that this valuable aspect of engagement and motivation is used effectively. To do this organization managers must understand the nature of the employees’ preferences and motivators – in the widest sense. Yet every employee will have differing needs and key to success is in employee voice; asking them what they appreciate and what they need, and then listening! Executives and the leadership must now listen to employees and develop rewards to meet their needs.
