ABSTRACT

Pick up any reference work from the Christian scholarly world and read what it has to say about the nature o f the human person, the body, soul, resurrection, immortality, and it is likely to tell you more about the assumptions o f the era in which it was written than it does about original or authentic Christian teaching. There seems to be no topic in theology or biblical studies into which we humans are more likely to project ourselves. Not surprising. For this reason I shall not presume to write about the Christian view of human nature, and even less to presume that I could write anything about the Islamic view.
