ABSTRACT

Ecofeminism is often described as a value system resulting from a critical analysis of our position in the world in relation to other humans, animals, and nature (Gaard, 1993; Adams & Gruen, 2014). At the core of ecofeminism is the call for the end of any kind of oppression and the exposure of the frequently implicit forces upon which oppressive behaviours rely. Within tourism contexts, ecofeminism can offer important alternatives to traditional approaches of environmentalism and animal ethics (Yudina & Fennell, 2013). More specifically, vegetarian ecofeminism can be adopted to approach the study of food-related tourism business activities.
