The maritime schools today are faced with the challenge of producing graduates who are competent enough to man foreign going vessels. But the quality of these graduates coming from the maritime schools is always questioned by the shipping companies. Many of these graduates are not academically prepared or do not possess the skills needed for the job on board ships.
