ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book focuses on the role and narrative of women participating in the sphere of global economic governance. Using a feminist approach, it analyses the lived experiences of women working in economic summitry, whilst firmly interrogating how masculine values and worldviews have shaped this area of diplomacy, as evidenced by the assumptions of mainstream economics. The book also highlights a research and policy agenda for the 'role' of gender moving forward and recommends ways in which policy makers can acknowledge its impact and work towards making meaningful policies concerning it. Reflecting on these themes is a crucial exercise in determining how the study of gender and diplomacy, and the gender of diplomacy, will progress in the future in terms of making actionable policy recommendations.
