ABSTRACT
Islam has come to predominate discourses about Africa in recent times. This has usually been linked to stories of Muslim radicals involved in insurgent movements from Nigeria to Somalia and a myriad of other countries across North and East Africa. In South Africa, at the southernmost tip of the continent, these stories of movements like Boko Haram seem to belong to another world.
