ABSTRACT

This chapter is a reflection of a legal practitioner by training and a disability rights activist by calling, who believes that his experiences have made him speak out against social exclusion, hence becoming a disability activist. The author believes that no one is born an activist. However, life gives us various challenges and how we respond to those challenges often creates what kind of people we end up becoming. He shares a story that was his turning point as a Zimbabwean blind person and how it defined the kind of activism that he has taken for the past ten years, as well as some of the work that he is currently doing as an activist.
