ABSTRACT

This chapter is the author’s personal story, which starts with a Scripture from Jeremiah 29 verse 11, because she believes that this verse directs her destiny. In the chapter, she argues that addressing attitudes that people have is an ongoing process and it starts in the family and goes to the clan and then the community. She narrates how, as the beauty icon of her family, she became disabled as a result of poliomyelitis. She takes us through her personal experiences as a disabled woman in Malawi; her challenges, achievements and how she has managed to live a purpose-driven life.
