ABSTRACT

The complex crises that have taken hold in Greece in the past four years have been dubbed "a failed experiment on the people", "humanitarian crisis", "healthconomic crisis", and as yielding a "lost generation", or a "sacrificed generation". This chapter examines how the current social milieu in Greece is talked about and visually presented by youth in one network public landscape: YouTube. The chapter presents the results of the analysis the five videos identified at the end of the three-phase processes: "Young People Talk about Greece in the Throes of Crisis", "Greek Financial Crisis: Youth React", "Dreams under Occupation", "News Broadcasts Severely Harm Your Health" and "KAV 3132". It focuses on three core themes analyses: the cultural-historical elements found in the protocols, the experiencing categories and codes, and the interrelationships, convergence, and interaction of the themes and this from the perspective of the Vygotskian theoretical tenets previously described.
