ABSTRACT

20 In late 1994, Capcom USA started putting together marketing plans for Biohazard, an upcoming survival horror game for the Playstation. The publisher would not be able to use the game’s original Japanese title for the Western release due to copyright issues, prompting the head of marketing to hold a company-wide competition for the best new name. Ideas were put forth and votes were tallied, with the team settling on Resident Evil.
