Restorative justice (RJ), as both concept and practice, has featured in criminal justice systems worldwide for many years, even though it may not always have been recognized or termed as such. The fundamental characteristic of RJ in the context of crime prevention is addressing offending and antisocial behavior by considering the position of the victim, the offender, and the wider community, where possible through interparty dialogue.
