When thinking about corporate crime prevention, there are two major ideas that one needs to bear in mind. First, as detections of corporate crimes (with environmental, financial, labor, or unfair trade practices) increase, so will criminal prosecutions against companies, leading to major impacts for a corporation and its members. Second, it is also becomes increasingly obvious that discourses and practices of crime prevention in general are greatly needed (Alvesalo et al. 2006). However, there is little research on the specific topic of corporate crime prevention. This is possibly attributed to the overall complexity of the subject, its interconnectedness to law and public policy, and a lack of reliable data (Vaughan 2007).
