Dear M Barbès, I would really like to see you, to beg you in the name of the cause which I serve, to do me a great favour. I am going from Montpellier to Carcassonne where I know you are very popular in that town, and I wanted to ask you for a letter of recommendation for your friends who are the most dedicated to the cause of the people. 2
