ABSTRACT
PIH develops because the inammation of the epidermis induces keratinocyte production and release of many mediators (prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and cytokines) that affect melanocyte proliferation and melanin production. Pigmentary incontinence or melanin dropping can cause dermal hyperpigmentation, with the presence of melanophages in the dermis [3,4].
