Organ orthotopic transplantation is now a definitive procedure for the treatment of end-stage organ failure. However, as mean life expectancy has increased, the number of donor organs has been insufficient, thereby resulting in increased mortality for tens of thousands of patients each year. In addition, patients who received organs face the concerns of chronic rejection as well as the side 758effects induced by a lifelong regimen of immunosuppressive drugs. Given the limited donor organ pool, an alternative strategy is greatly required.
