ABSTRACT

This chapter primarily summarizes the recent advances in PtSn-

based nanomaterials for direct alcohol fuel cells, such as PtSn-

based trimetallic, oxides (TiO2, SnO2, and CeO2)-doped bi-and

trimetallic PtAu, and graphene/graphyne as supporting materials

for the electrocatalysts of ethanol electro-oxidation reaction. The

activity of the electrocatalyst PtSn could also vary with a few factors,

like composition (Pt:Sn ratio), degree of alloying, roughness and

size of particles, pH, as well as characteristics of electrolytes. These

effects on the activity of the electrocatalyst and some open questions

arising from experiments are also discussed.
