ABSTRACT
Fungal skin infections caused by dermatophytes are a great menace and the existing medications possess several drawbacks, which overlay the way for seeking alternative and complementary medicine. Western Ghats is one of the hotspot of India and it is a rich source of flora and fauna. In this chapter, the medicinal plants, those are scientifically proved are accounted, the details of experimental methodology used, type of extraction, etc. is included to give the readers a complete overview of the present research towards the treatment of dermatophytosis. Focusing on the treatment with medicinal plant preparation will provide an alternative to overcome the prevailing difficulties in medical practice.
