ABSTRACT

Crowds are an important part of our daily lives. We are constantly surrounded by and are part of crowds, in streets, workplaces, shopping malls, football stadiums, concerts, etc. The presence and the dynamics of crowds greatly affect the ambiance of any given scene. Computer-generated crowds have become an important feature of modern applications and simulations of virtual worlds such as computer games, movies, training, and architectural visualizations. As these applications continue to strive toward higher levels of realism and scene complexity, there is an increasing need for more believable crowd simulations.
