ABSTRACT
The Utah Heavy Oil Program within the University of Utah’s Institute for Clean and Secure Energy (ICSE) was established in June 2006 to provide research support to federal and state constituents for addressing the wide-ranging issues surrounding the creation of an industry for unconventional oil production in the United States. Additional funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) allowed ICSE to continue its unconventional fuels research under the Clean and Secure Energy from Domestic Oil Shale and Oil Sands Resources Program.
