ABSTRACT

The production of marine algae worldwide has reached 19 million tons in 2010 (FAO, 2012), while farmed algae have overshadowed the production of algae collected from the wild, which accounted for only 4.5% of the total algae production in 2010. Thus, algae aquaculture is recently expanded to compensate the lack of natural availability. Despite their biological activities, most studies on algae focused on their carbohydrate content, whereas investigations on their proteins were rarely found.
