ABSTRACT

Glyco-conjugates are generated when carbohydrates covalently join with other chemical materials to produce the simplest chemical modications of biomolecules such as proteins, peptides, lipids, and saccharides. This happens in a process named “glycosylation” to regulate the biological activities and is recognizable by microarray techniques. These molecular and supermolecular scaffolds are very signicant bioactive compounds. They are of different types, including glycoproteins, glycopeptides, peptidoglycans, glycolipids, glycosides, and

lipopolysaccharides. They are involved in cell-matrix interactions including cell-cell interactions, detoxi- cation processes, and cell-cell recognitions. They also have an important role in the evolution of vaccines against cancer, viral and bacterial infections, and many other diseases (Kwak et al., 2013).
