ABSTRACT

In previous chapters, we looked at California geology on a local scale, province by province. Throughout the entire discussion, however, common threads and similarities have emerged. In this summary chapter, we review all the rock units and events from the different provinces in chronological order so that similar events in different provinces going on at the same time are connected. Hopefully, this will help the reader synthesize the common events that occurred across the entire state, and understand how many provinces followed similar tectonic and sedimentary histories.
