ABSTRACT
Primary reproductive tract disease is uncommon in the USA where ferrets are routinely desexed at 5-6 weeks of age. Outside the USA, most ferrets are gonadectomised at 5-6 months of age if at all, therefore disease of reproductive organs and prolonged oestrus seasons are much more common.
