ABSTRACT

Comprehensive evaluation of the geriatric ferret can include:

• Full physical examination with palpation, particularly of the abdomen. Note any lumps, particularly skin lesions. Ophthalmic examination should be done, particularly to detect cataracts or lenticular sclerosis seen frequently in geriatric ferrets. Otoscopic examination, checking the integrity of the tympanic membrane and condition of the exterior canal and pinnae.
