ABSTRACT

Most of the specific functions encountered in elementary analysis belong to a class known as the elementary functions. In order to describe this class, we begin by recalling that an algebraic function is a polynomial, a rational function, or more generally any function y = f(x) that satisfies an equation of the form P n ( x ) y n + P n − 1 ( x ) y n − 1 + ⋯ + P 1 ( x ) y + P 0 ( x ) = 0 , https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9781315371825/895247ed-bf4c-467d-b370-ced59759b8c3/content/eq814.tif"/>
