ABSTRACT

261California is one of the most productive agricultural regions in the world. The state, however, is prone to multiyear droughts, with wide-ranging impacts, including on the state’s agricultural sector. Climate change, combined with con-tinued population and economic growth, will make meeting water demands even more difficult. The good news is that water efficiency improvements, water recycling and reuse, and groundwater recharge can promote the long-term sustainability of the state’s agricultural sector.
