ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION After the introduction of anesthesia and antisepsis, cesarean was considered a safe procedure for the mother and the fetus. Nowadays, it is one of the most common surgical procedures in obstetrics. But as happens with other medical techniques, cesarean delivery is not a procedure free from complications, and while many of them are uncommon, they can be severe and even life threatening [1]. Some cesarean complications usually provide time to be solved, but others, particularly those related to hemorrhage, do not. Placental blood flow at term is about 600-1000 mL/ min; for this reason, some problems related with postpartum hemorrhage can modify the maternal hemodynamic state in a short time [2].
