ABSTRACT

In a work situation, it may be reasonable to expect that some planning has gone into the conduct of the work task, involving selection of appropriate access equipment, personal protective equipment including a harness, and trained personnel. In a leisure or home activity, for example, rock climbing or home roof repairs, there may be more variability in any of these factors. In addition, there are environmental circumstances, such as the weather conditions for outdoor activities that may affect both the likelihood of a fall and the medical outcome.
