engineering. Researchers have used noise as a broadband random signal, as a test signal, as a probe in microscopic investigations, and so on. Some examples of the applications of noise relevant to radar include source detection and location through noise measurements, self-directional microwave communications, electronic countermeasures, measurement of  antenna characteristics, impulse response measurements of systems, characterization of nonlinear systems, measurement of linearity and intermodulation in a communications channel, measurement of circuit and device parameters, and prediction of system reliability. This leads us to consider noise as a probing signal for radar applications.
