ABSTRACT

The design for producing vertical non-loadbearing masonry (DPVM) has been recommended as a mechanism of high potential for improving the design process in Brazilian building construction. This chapter aims to investigate the impact of DPVM, through a comparative evaluation of loss, productivity, time, cost and satisfaction indicators. Particularly, building masonry walls rationalization can represent a relevant advantage in order to achieve success in Brazilian building construction. DPVM serve the purpose of detailing the product technically, the whole production process and defining indicators of tolerance and control, subsidizing the organizational and technical support information of the construction site, making them a tool for production and quality management. The measure unit used for the masonry elevation productivity indicator was m2/day for each professional. Most professionals who belonged to the team of elevation of masonry had not worked even under the principles of streamlining with the use of a DPVM.
