ABSTRACT
Impact studies were established by the French Act of 10 July 1976, and have changed the way that infrastructure projects are designed and constructed by including an analysis of their effects on the environment. These systematic, regulated studies can be used to anticipate impacts and propose measures to avoid, reduce and if possible, offset them. The studies are available for general consultation in the form of public enquiries.
