ABSTRACT

As a kind of important infrastructure, natural gas pipelines deliver energy to facilitate national economic development and bring convenience to the lives of residents. Until 2014, China had developed natural gas pipelines of nearly 85,000 km. In the future, more natural gas pipelines will be built and put into use. Because of various reasons, leakage often occurs in these pipelines, which not only causes great economic losses and waste of resources, but also triggers explosions and seriously threatens the social security. On 1 August 2014, a leakage occurred in the natural gas pipelines in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, triggering a series of explosions. The number of causalities was nearly 300, of which 22 died.
