ABSTRACT

In order to improve the protection operating speed, the scheme of full-waveform current differential protection is proposed based on the accurate full-waveform information of an optical current transformer. In this scheme, the integral operation values of a quarter of the power frequency cycle of operating current waveform and restraint current waveform are used as the protection criterion. Moreover, the multi-differential protection scheme consists in increasing the traditional phasor current differential protection as the auxiliary criterion. The operation characteristic is analyzed by simulation of the restraint ratio. With the cooperation of the auxiliary criterion, not only the protection operating speed is improved, but also the sensitivity of protection is ensured. The simulation results prove the feasibility of the protection criterion.
