ABSTRACT

Many tunnels experience structural performance degradation due to various deteriorations, and require appropriate performance-based maintenance. This paper presents a procedure to evaluate the structural performance of a deteriorating structure by using a major deterioration analysis method and Markov process–based stochastic method. The proposed procedure was successfully applied to evaluating a RC road tunnel suffering severe chloride damage, and satisfactory results were achieved in terms of the structural performance and duration of each grade evaluated according to the analysis of the chloride-induced rebar corrosion and stochastic method.
